Alicia is an experienced litigator focused on insurance defence and construction litigation. Her insurance defence practice includes MVAs, occupiers’ liability and product liability claims. On every claim, Alicia takes a team approach with her client and she always takes the time to listen and understand their priorities. Never one to shy away from sharing her views, Alicia’s clients trust her honest assessment of files and appreciate the solution-focused strategies she presents. Alicia also provides coverage opinions for insurers on auto and D&O claims.
Alicia’s construction litigation practice includes acting for homeowners, builders and contractors in disputes over new home builds, renovation projects, payments and delays and builders’ lien matters. She also assists on multi-million dollar commercial construction disputes where her organization and research skills help her manage large claims involving dozens of parties and millions of documents.
Alicia is a firm believer in the value and benefits of direct communication. She uses her background in psychology and experience as a probation officer to help her understand the motivations of the many people she deals with on every file. She backs up her direct approach with the effective use of technology for document review and file management to deliver timely and efficient legal services.
An active member of the legal and insurance community, Alicia serves on the executive committee of both the Canadian Bar Association Insurance Section (Alberta) and The Advocates’ Society Personal Injury and Insurance Practice Group.
