Professional Background

As an articling student with SVR, Alisen takes an active role on client files where she can put her education and work experience into practice. She regularly contributes to client files through court appearances, drafting demand letters and pleadings, attending questionings, and prepping clients for litigation. After completing a Legal Assistant Diploma, Alisen worked for two and half years at a law firm while initially studying part-time for her undergraduate degree in Human Rights. While studying full-time during law school, Alisen participated in the Donald G. H. Bowman National Tax Moot and volunteered with the Rights Clinic at Robson Hall and the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic. A Red River Métis woman, Alisen was an active member of the Manitoba and National Indigenous Law Students’ Associations. Alisen actively follows world affairs and is interested in court cases dealing with international human rights issues. In her spare time, Alisen scours the internet for last minute flight deals so she can indulge in her passion for travel.
